?Will you regret dying today

Will you regret dying today?

Now that we’ve discussed how life is worth living, let’s move on to a question that can evaluate our current position from living; will you regret dying today? This question reflects the fact that many of us won’t get the luxury of living as much as we hope to live, for dying is an obligation we all have to fulfill sooner or later, one way or another.

Many of the people I know would defer from thinking about this important question, and some of those would even consider it as an unnecessary negative thinking approach, but shouldn’t we always be prepared for death the way we get prepared for a good sleep?

One side of this question is a reflection of your personal satisfaction of your life. What are the factors of your satisfaction? Is there anything that you’ve always wanted to do but never got the chance of doing it? What has been holding you from doing it? What can you do with your current capabilities to get it done? If you believe that you’ll never be capable of doing it, why not?

Another side of this question is about the people in your life and your relationship with them. Are you in a good stand with all those who matters? Will you regret not saying something to someone if one of you dies today? Will things run as hoped for your loved ones after your death?

Thinking about and answering the above questions might work as a spotlight to some dark corners in your life that require your attention. Sharing your thoughts and ideas might lead us all to a brighter conclusion that can be easily reflected to improve our lives.

For when you see a person who is repining at the approach of death, is not the reluctance a sufficient proof that this person is not a lover of wisdom, but a lover of the body, and probably at the same time a lover of either money or power, or both?

Is Life Worth Living? Conclusion

Is Life Worth Living? Conclusion

The following is the summarized conclusion of the question asked in the previously shared topic “Is Life Worth Living?”

If we ask anyone if the life of Alexander Fleming, the Scottish biologist who discovered the penicillin, was worth living, we’ll get a “yes” every time in favor of the man who saved, and is still saving, millions of people with his discovery, and who was mentioned as one of the 100 most important people of the 20th century. It’s not that you have to discover something as important to consider your life worthy, but it’s the fact that we as humans are responsible of making our lives worth living.

Unlike beauty or justice, the value of your life is something that can be easily measured just like weight and height, and it is measured by what you have “which is the constant of the equation” and what you do “how much you contribute to your surrounding”. The fact that we do not keep track of this measuring system and we do not have an agreed on measuring unit for it does not mean that we do not deserve a point for giving someone a true smile, 10 points for helping an old man crossing the street, and a 100 points for bringing a lost child back to his parents. The accumulation of points you receive through your life time is the measure of how much your life was worth living.

Every person’s life is different, we have unique difficulties and distinctive characteristics; and so the scoring capability is different from one person to another. Some people can score easily in certain fields while others excel in another, but even in the most difficult situations, a person can score so high to the level of breaking any expectations, just like what the deafblind Helen Killer did with her life when she became an author, a political activist, and a lecturer regardless of her condition.

Since the majority of the population believe that good deeds in life are essential, then it might be wiser to seek life worthiness points through positive impacts, and not to debate that the negative impacts can also add value to the equation, like what Anders Breivik claims as a reason behind his Norway attack.

If you are wondering today if your tough life is worth living, all you have to do is set up your pointing system, start a new note on your mobile, and seek points wherever and whenever you can. It is only a matter of time and calculation before you discover how much value there is behind your life, and that the worthiness of your life is something that grows with you and gets affected by your behaviors, actions and way of living.

In short, living a life worth living is in your hands, so look deeper in to your life, know where you can add value and gain the maximum number of “points”, and remember that the unexamined life is not worth living.

Is life worth living?

Is life worth living?

Let us start with this basic question about life; is it worth living? The fact that you are alive today, reading this topic, might be proof enough that you believe in a certain value in living, although you might have never thought deeply about this value and can’t even give a quick straight answer if ever asked about it.

The need to have a clear answer to this question is essential, for if life is worth living, then we better live it to the extent of its worthiness, and we shall set this information as one of the main measures behind our behaviors and decisions. But if life is not worth living, we’ll have to dive deeper in the fact of our existence, to redefine reality with all its factors, and see how deep the rabbit hole goes.

One point that must be considered while analyzing this question is about how a good percentage of people would link the meaning of life to their believes of a life after death. But doesn’t that indicate that life is a test more than an opportunity? Wouldn’t that empty the meanings of this life and amplify the importance of death?

On average, every forty seconds one person “fail the test” and/or “loose the opportunity” and dies by suicide, which accounts for 1.8% of the current worldwide deaths. The World Health Organization estimates that suicide is the thirteenth leading cause of death worldwide. So why would someone decide that life is not worth living? Why is it that the percentage of suicide is higher among the youth and in countries with higher living standards?

What is your purpose in living? Is it about the number of years in your life, or about the amount of life in your years? How would you describe an ideal life?

As for me, all I know is that I know nothing, for when I don't know what life is, I'll hardly know whether I’m living it or not, or whether a person who lives it is fortune or unfortunate.
