Is money a way or a why?

“Once upon a time..

Two friends went fishing..
One of them caught a big fish, bagged it, and wanted to go back home..

His friend asked: Where are you going?

He answered: Home, I just met my target with a very big fish.

His friend questioned: Why don’t you wait to catch more big fishes?

“What for?”

“If you catch more fishes you will be able to sell them”

“What for?”

“To get extra money”

“What for?”

“To increase your savings”

“What for?”

“So you can be rich”

“What for?”

“So one day in the future you would enjoy your life and do all the fishing you want”

And the wise friend replied: But that’s exactly what I’m doing right now without wasting years to get there!”

We do fall usually in this trap of concentrating on the way instead of the reasons behind taking it, and so we seek money and business and stay behind them to get all we can get, not noticing how many years we loose in the process away from our true happiness that usually depends on other easier components.

It might be difficult to distinct being cheap from being careful when it comes to money, but the more important question would be about the Why behind collecting and saving money. Is money a saving reason by itself or it is just a way to achieve future targets? Is stocking money for a long time considered the best way to achieve those targets? If not, what is!?

O my friend, why do you care so much about laying up the greatest amount of money and honor and reputation, and so little about wisdom and truth and the greatest improvement of the soul!

"كان ياما كان، في قديم الزمان..

ذهب صديقان يصطادان الأسماك فاصطاد أحدهما سمكة كبيرة
فوضعها في حقيبته ونهض لينصرف .. فسأله الآخر : إلي أين تذهب ؟! ..
فأجابه الصديق: إلي البيت لقد اصطدت سمكة كبيرة جدا تكفيني ..
فرد الرجل :انتظر لتصطاد المزيد من الأسماك الكبيرة مثلي ..
فسأله صديقه : و لماذا أفعل ذلك ؟! ..
فرد الرجل : عندما تصطاد أكثر من سمكة يمكنك أن تبيعها..
فسأله صديقه : ولماذا أفعل هذا ؟ ..
قال له : كي تحصل علي المزيد من المال ..
فسأله صديقه : ولماذا أفعل ذلك ؟ ..
فرد الرجل : يمكنك أن تدخره وتزيد من رصيدك في البنك ..
فسأله : ولماذا أفعل ذلك ؟ ..
فرد الرجل : لكي تصبح ثريا ..
فسأله الصديق : وماذا سأفعل بالثراء ؟! ..
فرد الرجل :تستطيع في يوم من الأيام عندما تكبر أن تستمتع بوقتك مع أولادك وزوجتك وتستمتع بالصيد ..
فقال له الصديق العاقل :هذا هو بالضبط ما أفعله الآن ولا أريد تأجيله حتى أكبر و يضيع العمر"

نقَع كثيراً في هذه الأيَّام بِفَخ التَركيز على الوَسيلة ونسيان الغايَة، فنَسلِك طريق المال والأعمال ولا نَترُكه إلَّا بَعد تَحصيل كل ما نَستطيع تَحصيله، فَنَتَفاجَأ بأن العُمر فات وقَد نسينا أن نَعيش فيه سَعادتنا التي تَعتمِد أصلا على مُسَبِّبات أُخرى سَهلة التحقيق!

قد يَصعُب على الإنسان تمييز الحِرص عن البُخل، لكن قد يكون السُؤال الأهم هو عن الغايَة من وراء جمع وتوفير الأموال، فهل المال غاية بحَد ذاته أم فَقط وسيلة لتَحقيق أهداف مُستَقبَليَّة؟  وَهَل توفير الأموال على المدى الطويل هو الطريق الأمثل لتَحقيق تِلك الأهداف؟ إذا أجَبت بالنفي، ماذا إذا؟

آه يا صديقي، لماذا تَهتَم بجَمع القَدر الأَعظم من المال والسُمعَة والشَرف بينما أَنتَ تُهمِل الحِكمَة والحقيقَة والإرتِقاء بالروح!

Life is worth living and it has a value that can easily be measured, and hence the general purpose of each individual’s life is to pursue happiness which is only real when shared, so let us start by training our mind to think positively and notice the good things happening around in order to work effectively with our loved ones in seizing life opportunities, that we can control with our reactions, toward becoming experts in what we do, which is reachable by avoiding procrastination and soft addictions, recognizing real knowledge, and knowing why we do what we do. Only then we’ll reach the required level of self-actualization that allows us to live this life as it is supposed to be lived.

الحياة الغير مَفحُوصَة لا تَستحِق أن تُحيى.
